A- Gilman ifliainrg J HIS graduation is the last one of the old guard. We leave behind all of our little world that we have known for the last four years. NVe have given something to our school that we did not ind, tradition. The incoming classes have we wish, but it is the best we have been able to do. We set a pace that did not slacken with the passing of time. The very first issues of the Mirror and the Doctrine went to press with the work of Leonard Dal Negro. Mac B, Perlman and Edna Janice Guttag. The first operetta produced, Pinafore, saw Prank K. Bulter in his first role, that of Captain Corcoran. A successful start that was to be only one step in the career of Leonard Dal Negro, was the basis for his future work in the political life of the G. O. The following year saw Maurice B. Bloom in the position of Student Business Manager for all the school publications: a position that he was to control excellently for the six terms he served. Leonard Dal Negro accepted the President's chair in the Law Society, the Monroe Naturalists, and the Botany Club. Edna Janice Guttagg was an outstanding member of the Poetry Club and besides being Vice-President of the Senior Scribes, con- tributed to the Doctrine, the Mirror, the Poetry Annual, and the Latin Paper. Mac B. Perlman and Rosalie Steiman entered the field of G. O. activities, and as all those who tread this path, worked through most of their high school life with the General Organization. The next period of our existance was marked by a new regime in the publication of the Mirror. Erank K. Butler Cwhere have we heard that name before?j became Editor-in-chief of the paper, having William Deg- enhart as Managing Editor. William O'Keefe and Mac B. Perlman worked for the success of this student publication. The Doctrine found new re- cruits in Kate Resniknoff, Karen Peterson and Dora Zucker. SEPTEMBER l928I-HI? Oh, l'm a SENIOR! Prank Kelly Butler by a sweeping vote became the president of the Senior Class. Rosalie Steinman, our Vice-President, Louis Gonzales, our Secretary and Dora Zucker could be seen anxiously conferring with Mr. Graham at all times of the day. ln the G, O. elections, Hilda Jacobs completed a victorious campaign for President of the G. O. Joseph Greenberg took the Vice-Presidency and Ruth Eorstat was made Rep-at-Large. Our Athletes burst into full glory in their final games. The Soccer Team, the Track Team, the Football Team, the Baskeball Team, and the Tennis Team found excellent material in the ranks of the Seniors. The last Operetta to be seen by the class of'29, the Pirates of Penzance, was marked by the part of the Major-General, played by Prank Butler. Bernice Kupler portrayed the role of Mabel, Bill Tieger that of Samuel, and Ruth Meyer that of Ruth. Karen Peterson became Editor-in-chief of the Doctrine, and Edna Janice Guttag completed seven terms work on the magazine. Our Senior activities passed in colorful array: Red Letter Day, the Prom, Senior Class Night, and as a final consummation-Commencement. These are no more. We can have these things only in our thoughts. But while they lasted, who were as glad as we? EDNA JANICE GUTTAG Senior Class-Twenty-nine .NNY .. our work as a background. It may not be as splendid as V
