PUBLICATIONS AND DRAMA The Doctrine class pro- duced the school newspaper monthly. Articles covered stories about school as well as community events. This year the journalism staff joined the yearbook staff to form the publications class. journalism is an elective open to sophomores through seniors. Marcia McDonald was the Doctrine editor. if T ' ,..,rfa.,5gv 'P t an B Drama is an elective open to freshmen through seniors. Students studied accents, pantominie and shorts skits. Students in drama classes had oppor- tunity to work in two plays. Drama students also par- ticipated in the University of Portland Speech Arts Festival. A. T. Hornbuckle, B. Reed and G. Maldonado display the award they received at the University of Portland's Speech Arts Festival. B. Students perform modern dance at assembly. C. Mrs. Handy explains final newspaper layout to members of Publications class. D. Mrs. Handy tells K. Spencer, M. McDonald and T. Redding how to lay out head- lines. E. Members of the drama class act out original play at Christ- mas assembly. F, M. Parker and K. Dehning check out finished copy of the Doctrine. C

MILESTONE CLASS The Milestone was pro- duced by members of the publications staff. The staff studied new methods for layout, photography and production. The' editor for the 1977 book was Lorna Russell. The Milestone was also printed by a new company, josten's American Yearbook Company. The Milestone class is A. P. Rahsaan, K. Spencer and I. Carter work on captions while E. Roberts and V. Stuart discuss cap- tions. B. Mrs. Handy and V. Green put pages in envelopes while P. Adams watches. C. V. Green appears to be lost in concentration while choosing pictures for the 1977 Mile- S'CO1'16 . open to sophomores, juniors and seniors. All students are exposed to work with photography and layout. The staff was divided into smaller staffs, such as copy and caption staffs.
