ENGLISH The junior-senior Eng- lish program at Monroe offers a variety of classes to students at the upper division level. Students register for the year's courses in the fall, during the first term. All upper division English is taught during the first two periods. Freshman English is taught by Mrs. Severson and Ms. McGinn. Students study sentence structure, literature, and grammar. They also spend some time in the Reading Lab during A one term. Ms. Bidwell, department chairman, and Mrs. Handy teach sopho- more English. On this level students study basic para- graph structure, literature, and more grammar. The English department - added two observers to classes during third term. Victor Chapman, a student at Portland State, observed classes on Tuesdays. Wendy Hammond, a Reed College student, student taught Lmder the direction of Ms. Bidwell. A. The Christmas Sing-A -Long finds Miss Kolden, Mrs. Handy, Donna Marshall and Mrs. Bidwell in a very good mood. B. Mrs, Handy appears to be absorbed in her grade book. C. Allen attempts to slow down Mrs. I-Iollcraft. Y , -V, 1. gl r '
