While these two freshmen walk confidently toward their new residence, it is a struggle for Father with everything but the kitchen sink. :5m ' -. Orientation Week was climaxed as the foreign students, their classmates, and Senior Counselors enjoyed a social hour at Hillcrest, the home of the President. Here Is Cultural, spiritual, educational, and .social events all play an im- portant role in keeping the spirit of Madison alive. Each student enjoys participation in various phases of college life to further enrich his college days. From fall to spring, it is the many unforeseen activities as well as the special occasions that provide memorable experiences for each student. Our feelings toward Madi- Below. Old students found new changes when they returned in the fall. Call downs had been suspended for walking in the road while new heating pipes were installed under the sidewalks. Greta, one of our foreign stu- dents, prepares to study for those mid-year exams. Some find mental activity easier while sitting on the floor as mass exams are taken in Wilson Auditorium. Vote. Vote, ' was the cry when campaigns for major officers rolled around. The Electoral Board frantically counted the votes to get the ■ ' Big Six for 1958-59. The atmosphere in Wilson was rapidly changed when Woody Herman and his band filled the stage for an even- ing concert. Dr. Newell busily answered questions dur- ing Religious Emphasis Week in a buzz session with the freshmen.
