BASKETBALL Defending their first place title, the Girls' Basketball Team opened play in early March. They were the pre-season favorites to win 1st place in Western League and go on to the C.I.F. Champi- onship. Led by Sue Apostoli and Lisa Hoffman, the seven varsity players practiced hard each morning to achieve their final suc- cess. 258 Athletics

POWDERPUFF Powderpuff is the annual spring contest matching the Senior and Junior girls against one another in a grueling and spirited battle. The girls spend several weeks preparing for the event under the supervision of some of the top varsity players. Kelly. Coleman. O'Leary, and Beckes coached the Senior girls in offensive and defensive drills, while Rodriguez. Reinhardt. Miller. Driskill. and Burkart coached the Juniors. The coahces found practice to be the best part of preparing for the game. Athletics 25 7

FIELD HOCKEY This year the girls' Field Hockey team had its best season ever. They tied for third in Western League. The team played a new type of formation which proved to be a great advantage. Instead of a defensive game the team played offensively.
