GYMNASTICS Interest in girls' gymnastics blossomed as the team began its '75 season. The turn out of larger crowds created greater team spirit and helped the team do well against their opponents. The new interest in the team caused new classifications to be created. The girls are now divided into Varsity. J.V. and Optional catagories. with the highest level being Optionals. Practicing along with the boys gymnastics team, the girls found that the co-ed practices helped them to work harder at perfecting skills. Both groups en- couraged one another and gained respect for each others abilities. GIRL’S TRACK Girls’ Track is a sport that is relatively new to Madison. This is the second year of competition for the girls and the first year that boys and girls track have competed in dual meets together. The team is young and enthu- siastic. and spends many hours in training. San Diego's surprise spring rain storms interrupted several practices and hindered the start of the season, but the girls made up for the lost practice time during spring vacation. They have developed new friendships through the time spent together and feel this has added greatly to the high team spirit. They did well in overall competition and look for- ward to a strong season in 76. 250 Athletics

An increase in the popularity of tennis made this year's Girl's Tennis Team larger than ever. The team consisted of thirty-two members, and twelve competing players. Using an attack game, the girls had a successful year. With the help of Mrs. Rosser and the eight returning start- ers. the Hawks hold high hopes for next year. Mrs. Ardapple's swimmers gave strength and persever- ance in the strenuous practices held at Mirimar Pool. The girl's ability and enthusiasm made victories seem a little easier. With a successful season, the long practices and bus rides to the pool seemed worthwhile. 4 252 Athletics
