SCIENCE FAIR Four students were chosen to represent Madison High School in the 21st Annual County-Wide Science Fair. After being evaluated by four expert consult- ants. the students received a good response from the judges. All the students spent a great deal of time and effort in researching, writing and present- ing their projects. Some projects took several years to complete. The result of their efforts was person- al satisfaction and an appreciation of long term study. 1 Science Fair project submitted by Fred Dessau and Martin Bland on a future food source. 2 Ice Age research project by Sci- ence Fair winner Jack O’Connor 3 Science Fair winners: Jack O’Con- nor. MODEL U.N. Understanding current world prob- lems is the goal of the model U.N. members. Fourteen students rep- resented the organization this year. Members met with students from schools all over San Diego, each representing a different country in attitudes as well as dress. The mock U.N. meetings gave students a chance to listen to others and share ideas. The countries Madison represented were Iraq and Nepal. With insight gained from these conventions. Madison students gained an understanding of world affairs. Organizations 185
