Powerful Drives Dominate League Long hours of practice were needed to develop the exacting skill and pinpoint accuracy that marked this year’s Golf team. Early in the season they shocked La Jolla’s top ranked team in an upset vic- tory at Los Pcnasquitos. Low scorer Scott Simpson along with the rest of the team displayed the high skill level required for good con- sistent golf. FRONT ROW: Glenn Aspholm. Scon Simpson. Carl Sjobcrg. RACK ROW Lon Woods. A Time for. . . UNDERCLASS “Could you tell me where the 800 building is? Questions such as this were not uncommon in September as incoming sophomores got their bearings. The sophomores, newcomers to Madison, were unlike the other classes. Not only was the campus and faculty new to them, but they were new to each other. Drawn, for the most part, from two junior high schools, they were making new friends and in the process of sorting out new acquaintances. Juniors, on the other hand, were seasoned veterans - relieved to have the trials of the sophomore year be- hind them. Names of faculty, where to find a room, history of football scores were second nature to this class. The pace of study was picked up. Talented juniors, having “made varsity' became prominent in extra- curricular activities. Many were well known, for reasons diverse, to teach- ers, counselors, and fellow students. The juniors strove to be individuals during their year, yet they had one trait in common - they couldn't wail to be seniors.
