Tracksters Dominate Distance Runs Madison's tracksters have always been noted for their great individual performances and this year was no exception. No less than seven Warhawks were among the top finishers in the Western League. Paced by Dick Wilson's upset victory over C.l.F. Champion Dave Harper in the mile. Bob Sturgeon's 6 4 high jump, and Kurt Nelson’s record distance in the shot put. the Madisonites placed well in the league standings and earned valuable points for the coveted M.C.R.D. Track Team Opens Season With Strong Start Track season opened with two non- league triangular meets for Madison. Both meets took place on the Warhawk track. Coach Schuler's squad placed second in the first of the two meets with Granite Hills winning top honors and Hoover taking third. Team members combined efforts against competitors San Dicguito and Montgomery to finish with a first place. The highlight of pre-season activities was the San Diego Prep C.I.F. Track Championships on February 19th. War- hawks Bob Sturgeon, Kurt Nelson, Bill Mowry, Dick Wilson, Dave Holl- ingsworth and Bob Mowry qualified to participate in the meet.
