With a 1-4 record, the tennis team had a rebuilding year. In her first year of teach- ing. Coach Sandi Tschudi kept the team in shape with practices during eighth hour gym and after school. Younger members make next year look promising for the team. With only two losses, the volleyball team took a third in Western League play. Skills and practice games readied the girls for league competition under direction of Coach Betty Bennett. Helping also with the team were Miss Carol Hamilton and Mrs. Renee Sccman. Games were played at Muni Gym. Boasting a fourth place in the city and twelfth in the county is the girls’ swim team. Practices were held four times a week at Miramar Pool. Coaches Betty Ardapplc. Anne Rosser and the boys’ waterpolo club helped the girls develop their abilities into a winning team. The purchase of new swim- suits made the team stand out even more at their meets! The gymnastics team under the supervision of Mrs. Anne Rosser, Miss Sandy Tschudi and Miss Nancy Hubert divided into begin- ning, intermediate and advanced levels. The members participated in vaulting, floor exercises, bal- ance beam stunts and performance on the uneven parallel bars. The season lasted from March fifth to May seventh and the teams had meets every Tuesday and Friday. Throughout March and April the teams attended many city- wide competitions. The modern dance club under the direction of Mrs. Toni Harwood provided entertainment for many occasions. One evening in January and another in February the mem- bers displayed dancing talents for patients in a convalescent home. In February they also entertained at the Girls’ League Dad-Daughter Banquet. Hie group attended a modern dance symposium early in March. Under the skillful coaching of Mrs. Bonnie Charles and Miss Jane Venghaus, the G.A.A. hockey team finished off their season with a 6-2 record. The two losses were to Kearny after a re-match. Mem- bers of the team attended a field hockey clinic at Fallbrook Union High School on February sixth to learn many new skills and tech- niques.
