A Time for. . . SENIORS “The time is out of joint! - Oh cursed spite, that ever I was born to set it right!” Shakespeare's Hamlet was in some ways like the Madison senior. Seniors had the confidence of lords of the earth. Two years of prior accom- plishment had earned them privileges envied by underclassmen. The demand- ing pace of college, the possibility of military service, the necessity of earn- ing a living, the challenge and fulfill- ment of marriage - these were some of the many roads that awaited the grad- uating class. The class of '71 was in a good position to savor memories - they had more to remember. The Senior year was par- ticularly challenging and very active - busy with athletics, committees, exams, dances. Many activities were aimed only at seniors. The Senior Play, “The Crucible , was a profound historical drama, demanding and challenging, but well done and well received. Senior Prom memories - treasured images of an evening and morning of music and dancing, of fun and fatigue. Gradu- ation week was one of mixed emotions - sadness, anxiety, gaiety, relief. Senior awards night. Senior Luncheon. Bac- calaureate - times to be tucked away and recalled in future years. Gradu- ation. Memories of mortarboards and rustling gowns, of quiet pride and stifled laughter. These were the times that will be remembered - this was the Senior Year. LEFT • t he executive officers of the Senior Class were Vice President Kaye llarmston. Secretary Myra Anderson. Treasurer Colleen Turner, and President Penny lodice.
