Water Balloons Wet Girls at Big-Little Sister Picnic Splash! Water balloons drenched old and new Madison girls at this year's first Girls' League activity. The event, (he Big-Little Sister Picnic, also fea- tured a three-legged race, l alling and laughing, “big and little sisters” be- came better acquainted. Following the get-together, the Homecoming Mum Sale busied league members in November. One night they met at girls' houses and made more than one thousand mums. For some, the mum-making experience was a difficult and finger-swelling task. Yet for others, it was simply a bore. The joking and gossiping which went on that night, however, made the job more enjoyable. Other group events included bake sales, the Dad-Daughter Banquet, and “Twerp Week. Sponsoring activi- ties such as these, the Girls’ League has encouraged greater school par- ticipation at Madison High School. RIGHT: Officers: FROST ROW Char Tucker. Secretary; Becky Acosta. Sadie Hawkins Dance Highlights Twerp Week Daisy Mae, Li’l Abner, Mr. Legs, and Marryin' Sam are not everyday terms a- round Madison High. The exception comes once a year during the phenomenon known as Twerp Week. Dogpatch, U.S.A. came alive this year on March 19 with the annual Sadie Hawkins dance. Knickweed Baer provided music to dance by for a gym full of couples dressed in a wide variety of cos- tumes. The girl-ask-boy dance was the cli- max of Twerp Week. During the week, members of Girls League dressed up to advertise the dance. On Thursday, boys were auctioned off as slaves during the lunch periods. The slaves were obligated to serve their masters on Friday. Slave activities ranged from dressing in a bunny costume to playing “Leap-Frog in the middle of the lunch court. The proceeds from Twerp Week activities went to Girls’ League to provide scholarships for outstanding Girls. ABOVE RIGHT: Dorinda Gel .
