During the school year he has stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Hdward Hobson and family in Claircmont. Roberto has immensely enjoyed his stay in the United States and says he has found very much friendliness.” He says Italian high school students arc pretty much the same as American students except that the Italians arc more politically involved on campus. When Roberto returns to Italy he plans to attend college and study philosophy or political science. He hasn't yet established definite career goals. I want to spend my life not only for myself, but to be useful to society, This is the major goal in life of the foreign exchange student from Java. Agung Soctijoso. Agung. born April 2, 1952 has stayed with the Fred H. Jensen family of Claircmont during the year, lie was impressed by the size of Madison since almost all Indonesian schools have no more than about 700 people. When Agung returns to Java, he plans to attend medical school. After becoming a doctor, he hopes to be able to bring medicine to the people who really need it in his country. Activities 149

Madison’s A.F.S. Broadens Horizons Two students have had their lives entirely changed by the American Field Service. The students arc Roberto Rivicllo and Agung Soetijoso. Roberto, from Italy, and Agung, from A.F.S., under the supervision of Mrs. Van Linen, planned many activities for the year. Highlights included the beach party on Oct. 10 at Torrey Pines State Beach and the fund-raising “Yours, Mine, and Ours,” Nov. 2 at the Clairc- mont Theater, The Harbor Hop took place Nov. 17 on Harbor Excursion Boats in San Diego Bay. Activities of American Field Service Week (March 1-5) culminated in the student-faculty basketball game on March 5. The final major event of the year was the bond sale the week of April 19-26.
