Symphonic Band Earns Superior Rating at Festival Concert Band followed the trend set by the Jazz Ensemble, formerly Stage Band and Honor Ensemble, formerly Mad- rigals and adopted the more sophisticated title of symphonic band. The band earned four “ones , the highest possible score, in district competition at Southwestern College. The band demonstrated their superb sight-reading skills and gave a superior overall performance. Their high rating sent them on to compete in the regional festival. This year Mr. Wolfe organized a string ensemble as a new addition to the music department. They entertained in var- ious programs during the year.
