Who started this sudden up- surge of spirit? The Varsity Cheerleaders! The student body decision to increase the cheerleading squad from six to nine cheer- leaders made this year’s squad even better. More cheerleaders meant more spirit. The football team kicked off the year with a triumphant season triggering a spark of enthusiasm that the cheerleaders carried with them into basketball season and throughout the entire year. At the sum- mer cheerleading camp, held at UCSD the Varsity cheerleaders earned two firsts and a second in competition with cheer- leaders from all over the state, proving that M HS cheerleaders are number one!
