gairfax County School Board The Fairfax County School Board is a body of citizens who have been given the responsibility of conducting and supervising the public schools. It is their chief function to set up school policies and to establish rules and regulations in accordance with the county and state laws. The executive director of the School Board, the superintendent of schools, has full responsibility for the conduct of his office and the preparation of a budget. Fairfax County is very fortunate in having such a high quality of leadership. 9

Madison's faculty is composed of well-trained and experienced teach- ers. They have worked closely with the students and have shown a sin- cere interest in them. When Madison opened two years ago, the faculty labored towards a successful year. This year these teachers have endeavored to instill in us a feeling of responsibility and a sense of duty and loyalty. They have spent much of their time and efforts in order to make us better citizens in school and out. By inspiring us, through their example and by their words, to appre- ciate scholarship and the acquisition of knowledge, the standing of the school has been raised. They have understood our problems and helped us in every Way to solve them. With their guidance and advice, Madison's students have enjoyed a full year of learning, extra-curricular activities, and have found a loyalty to Madison that is second to none. andy lO
