Dear Ragdolls, The theme of our Sing was the acceptance of reality and the quest for individuality. Some felt that the only individuality we actually achieved was the stigma of a Senior Sing defeat. How- ever, as was evident in our Sing, we knew we should take pride in our progress and look ahead to the future. The setting of Senior Sing was a toy shop. Dolls who are basically similar represented the people in our conforming society. Using several skits which portrayed life both in and beyond school limits, we told of the vanishing iden- tity in society. You, the wonderful chor- us, performed in the usual manner which has distinguished our Sings for three years. At last, your talent and spirit were duly rewarded. Judging by audience reaction, our acting was very humorous and our actors realistic and very well received. Our dancing was the most professional in any of our Sings. Certainly, the vis- ual effects of Sing also enhanced it greatly. When the curtains opened, the audience was fascinated by the myriad colors and splendor before its eyes. The iudges were apparently impressed by our original costumes, superior artwork, and props. The most important aspect of our Sing was our ultimate goal, the creation of a perfect production. Each member shared this aim, and each gave himself fully and willingly, it was not unusual to find the costume chairmen at a lyric meeting, the writing chairmen at dancing practice, or the music co-ordinators helping to paint the backdrop. Chairmen alone were not responsible for Sing, however. The chorus played an active role in its molding. Many of you par- ticipated on various committees, voiced your opinions, and con- tributed new and different ideas. We worked in a combined effort, hoping for success. We believe it was achieved. Unfortunately, most of you who have been members of Sing for three years have never had the opportunity to enioy your own per- formance. As we sat in the audience and watched you perform so beautifully, we were proud to be members of Senior Sing. Now we look back on this wonderful experience and feel pangs of nos- talgia. We remember: our chorus leader gallavanting around the stage, stamping her feet as we sang out . . . and we are gaining our free- dom, spreading our fame, our identity's the name of the game, the cold pizza 0 we gobbled which our friends brought us after the seventh period, the old alma mater, the new alma mater, the old pep song, the new pep song, the Romney doll, the cheating scene, the Juniors peering into the auditorium try- ing to hear one of our songs, the ten- sion and excitement during those last hectic weeks which reached their cli- max at the dress rehearsal, but above J... sm., all, we remember the friendships we made and the valuable experiences we all gained through our participation. Now wiser and more mature, we reflect, Have we really lost? With deepest gratitude and admiration, SANDI SALTER GALE SPRINGER and the officers and chairmen of Senior Sing I967
