Arista Leaders-Jimmy Lapenn Lucy Gleicher SYNOPSIS OF ACT III: just as we had become perfectly comfortable in high school, a number of changes upset the Madison routine. Two schools began to function in one building: Madison played host to five hundred students from Sheeps- head Bay High School. This increased the population of a school which was already overcrowded. Other changes had to be made to lighten the load. An annex for Freshman was set up in an elementary school. Many Juniors attended classes on a new M session. This latter measure caused much complaining among Junior classmen, who had looked forward to going on morning session. However, the process of readjustment took place, and We were soon back to normal. But no disturbances could detract from the excitement of Sing That year our presentation theme was Junior Toys, Inc. The program was highlighted by a reindeer dance and a toy doll extravaganza. And nothing could stop our enjoyment of sports. Even another year of unsuccessful football could not lessen our enthusiasm for athletics. The formation of a backwards J by the Boosters at Madison Square Garden could not diminish our participation in school organizations. 12 yn ij - ll 5 n 'Q 6 Z-jg

Many new students came to James Madison from junior high school, going through the same period of adjustment as did last year's newcomers. Old students now felt somewhat more secure in their school and in its routine. They walked less hesitantly through the halls, even stopping occasionally to help their new and confused classmates End their way through Madison's haze. The tremendously expanded class now participated in many school activi- ties, the rnost important of which was Sing Our Hrst Sing was entitled Madison Goes To Las Vegasf' Although we were novices and had many obstacles to overcome, our enthusiasm was always in high gear during the weeks of preparation. The three performances of Sing were the most memorable highlights of the Sophomore year. While we sadly mourned the fate of our star-crossed football team, our school spirit nevertheless increased. When our Mosketeers entered the play-offs, our class enthusiastically cheered for their success. A S. ' il 7 if X K 'W '4ff xx X S I J Xa Q A X ii, L5 X3 if if af EN g fwiibi-I? l X f i f f X X

Our football team also experienced a metamorphosis, winning not one but TWO games. For the first time in the history of our class, we left a football field singing Madison Forever. In December and January, college boards, stimulated by the approaching January Regents, helped to give us some sleepless nights.
