A change from the security and familiarity of elementary school to the strange unknown atmosphere of high school! These were our thoughts, as we meekly entered the portals of Madison. We had suddenly been demoted from the superior class in grade school to the lowest class in high school. Everything was new and different4from the unfamiliar building, to the routine of classes and study. The activities of Madison continued around us and we soon became ab- sorbed in them. A new organization, Rooters, was established to take the place of sororities and fraternities, which had been banned. An over- whelming affirmation was given to football in a referendum which decided the fate of that sport at our school. Although we did not have our own Sing, the Freshman chorus buzzed with the excitement of introducing the shows of the upper classmen. The small size of our class, however, restricted to some extent our participation in extra-curricular activities. 10
