We have met people who have influenced and changed our outlook. We have worked together, and we have learned together . . . Four years of growth, four years of grappling for a faith-for a basis on which to build our future-four years of maturing . . . We leave nothing behind us, for all that we have done remains a part of us. Ahead of us lies an uncertain future. Yet, we are certain in our aims. We leave high school full of the hope and optimism of our youth. We will build a better world! We will create a community based on brotherhood and peace. We will create our tomorrow with love and with understanding, with justice and with truth, with hope and with faith. Brook, Acting Principal To the boys and girls of the Class of June, 1959: A trip to the countries of the Far East imparts a new perspective upon the most commonplace aspects of American life. One of these aspects is education. To you, education is as ordinary a thing as bread and water that is fit to drink. You have had it gratis from your earliest years. You have accepted it casually as your due, sometimes with considerable reluctance, some- times with complacence. The notion that it may be a rare commodity for which millions of people elsewhere hunger has probably seldom occurred to you. Our American tradition, secure behind ramparts of established law and order, guarantees to each boy and girl the opportunity for self-development and improvement at public expense. Asian countries too have accepted the ideal of betterment of the lot of the masses, both economically and educationally. But the obstacles to be overcome before universal education is a fact are enormous. When the bare necessities of life are obtained only by perpetual toil, schools tend to be regarded as luxuries. Thus, in Hong Kong where a half-million penniless refugees live in congestion and squalor we were told that requiring school attendance would be impossible. Since so many children spend all their lives on boats said one official, how could we possibly round them up? My mentioning these under-privileged peoples is not intended to saddle you with a feeling of responsibility for them. My purpose is to have you re-appraise the importance and value of all that Madison has tried to do for you. Have you gotten out of your course-work a substantial share of the ideas and knowledge placed before you? Have you developed socially so that you can count on a circle of friends to which you will belong? Have you emerged with a fairly clear idea of your plans for the future? lf your answer to these questions is in the affirmative, society's expenditure for you has been worthwhile. Max Newfield Principal Dear Seniors, For the past year, l've been general handyman to you. l've alphe- betized you, collected your money down to the last dime, measured you for gowns, sold you prom tickets, distributed your senior hats and buttons, rehearsed your panel discussion and helped get you ready to march down the aisle-for graduation, of course, You've been my headache, and yet the kind of headache that's fun and sometimes a satisfaction. Now it is time for me to say good-bye. Usu- ally, at this point, l wish you luck. However, now l'm not going to, l'm going to tell you that you carry your own luck. . .good or bad, with you. Someone once said that character is fate. By that he meant that your personality iwhat you aret determines your future lwhat you be- comel. Of course, what you have learned and will learn . . .the spe- cial skills, the subject matter and the facts will help determine your career, and how well you do in that career, and how well you do in the much more important career of life depends on what you have learned about yourself and other people, for what else is character but the way we relate ourselves to our neighbors, friends and even enemies? So, good-bye, and here's wishing you. . .luck? No. Make your Own! Sincerely, JMMEU :N ff lb g , if ' l , li, fy fl! i l N g X ,F If fl, fe! of ! of , if c b, f x ' J I f ff 'tt il K ,f if ill I i X ff, ' Q if r ' X ' s lf? l ,J lucvillwst f On the eve of our graduation we pause to extend our appreciation for four memorable years. lt seems only a short time ago that we entered Madison as frightened Freshmen. As a result of your educational alchemy, we are about to emerge a bit wiser and a bit more mature. This is traditionally the time to say goodbye. We say it with heartfelt affection, secure in the knowl- edge that those who have preceded us, and our classmates who will follow will have the benefit of the same warmth, friendship and guidance. Our thanks go to our subiect teachers, to those teachers who led us in extra-curricular activities-in sports, Sing, publications, S.G.O. and clubs-to our grade advisers, our college advisers, to Mr. New- field and the administrative staff. We say thanks, too, for the friendships we made and for the out- of-class fellowship of teacher and student. A special word of thanks goes to our senior class adviser for his patience and guidance through the labyrinth of graduation preparations. They have done their part. We pledge to do ours by bringing credit to James Madison, our alma mater. Some students will remember Mr. Tobin's eco- nomic classes but most students will remember his inspiration, which provided the ability to look for- ward to an enriched future. During his many years of service, Mr. Tobin gave unrestrictively of his time and efforts in order to help our students select higher institutions of learning. Somehow he was always able to assure a college acceptance. His devotion and understanding will long be appre- ciated by these young people. The class of June '59 would like to take this opportunity to wish Mr. Tobin a future as promising as the one he has enabled us to look forward to, f M r. Mu n nix Grade Advisor ff M r. Fanning. Their loss leaves gaps in our traditional staff that we shall not easily fill, said Mr. Newfield. Mr. Mendelsohn taught mathematics at Madison, and served as Acting Chairman of the Department for a term. Deeply interested in his work, Mr. Mendelsohn helped many of his students achieve high honors through experience gained as a member of his Math Team. He had the ability demanded of all teachers, but achieved by few: the ability to understand each student's mind, and anticipate the problems he would meet, and would have to overcome .... lt has been said that a genuine simplicity of personality and a selfless devotion to the welfare of others are the marks of greatness. Avner Mendelsohn had these marks stamped upon him, said a student. Mr. Milgram died on January tenth. He was a member of the French department, also taught mathematics, and served as a grade advisor. Mr, Jacob Milgram was a devoted teacher whose interest in the problems of boys and girls made itself felt both in the classroom and in his activity as a grade advisor. Hundreds of students will long remember his devoted and sympathetic application to their cause and welfare, was Mr. Newfield's statement. Mr. George Wolfson, a member of the speech department, died suddenly on January 22. He was one of the original faculty at the opening of Madison in 1925, and served as acting head of the speech department. Mr, George Wolfson, a teacher of speech for forty years, made the improvement of the level of oral expression the goal of his professional career. Students in his classes were made to realize that the ideals of correctness and of fluency in speech were essential to the truly educated and successful young man or woman. He devoted himself to this cause with unflagging industry and earnestness, stated Mr. Newfield. The fourth member of the faculty to be taken from us suddenly, Mr. Harold J. Fanning, died on the eighth of February. He, too, came to Madison at the opening of the school, as a member of the social studies department. As a teacher, he was always interesting to his classes because he made his subiect matter come alive. He would dramatize famous historical personages in an unforget- table manner. lt simply cannot be the same 'J.M.H.S. without our good friend and colleague, Mr. Harold J. Fanning, He was a friend to all, students and faculty, as well as being iovial, fluent, patient, and popular. Madison will miss the devoti ' ' ' ' L a ': 'i'1 long and faithfully. be Freshman emf Trailing clouds of glory, we came from the elementary schools which were our homes. We soon found that the art of being a happy Freshman is a difficult one to learn. The fate of the newcomer is not entirely insupportable, we were not tormented, but rather ignored. However, we learned to ignore being ignored, and set out to make a mark for the Class of '59, As our first political leaders, we elected Marty Licht and lSee, the conquering hero comes! Sound the trumpets, beat the drums! Thomas Moore Sue Greenstein. Their successors were Alan Miller, Barry Nathanson, and Myron Kalin. This was the year of lasts. Gamerama, which wound up our Freshman year, thereafter disappeared from the Madison scene. Sororities and fraternities were soon to be banished. The intimacy of our small class would be destroyed in the Fall, when our numbers were to be reinforced by the new Sophomores from iunior high. MW' Whom the Board of Education hath ioined let no man put asunderl The ioining of the native Madisonian and the newly entered iunior high school graduates was solemnized, and our first Sing was pro- duced by a thoroughly united class. We won, of course! Bob Front, Terry Wolfe, and Iris Liebowitz were the first to serve our class as leaders of Sing. The fact that officially we had tied with the Seniors did not dampen our spirits. This was the year of the hunt for sub- versives - members of secret societies - at Madison High School. To replace the so- rorities and fraternities, a company union lRootersl was formed. But, since it lacked the charm of exclusiveness, it lacked the power to charm. Harriette Eagle and Bob Rosenbush were our fourth term governors, Jeff Sussman was P.M. Coordinator. Terry Wolfe and Steve Rosenberg were elected our repre- sentatives to the S.G.O. for the fifth term. A campaign promise was realized in a social event exclusively for P.M.ers. We had a P.M. Carnival. At long last, we became eligible to wear the dirty white sweater with button-cluttered letter, or the gangster-type black and gold satin iacket. lntegrated with upperclassmen, the Sophomores ioined the ranks of Boost- ers, Go-Getters, Cheerleaders, and Twirlers. Having acquitted ourselves admirably as a Sophomore Class, we felt ourselves pre- pared to meet the challenges of our Junior Year. be Sophomore Yemf If llCrafty men condemn studies, simple men admire them, and wise men use themf Montaigne Under this standard shalt thou conquer, Emperor Constantine The Junior Year was best, Behind us, though not forgotten, lay the fears, doubts, inadequacies of our childhood. Far, far in the future, not yet a reason for concern, the choice of college, or the college's choice of us. Madison this year was truly ours. We sang her praises, cheered her teams, criticized her administration, evaded her rules, but loved every min- ute of it. We rollicked through Sing. Having won as Sophs, we couldn't miss as Juniors. Terry was at the top of her form. She wheedled and scolded and threatened and pleaded. Jeff Sussman and Arlene Thaw gave her much needed moral support. We didn't miss, we were unfortunate in the iudges that year, but even this lack of appreciation couldn't dim our 'ioie de vivrel' Our consolation parties were gayer than the victory parties, and we joined with relish in the Sing Cele- bration Ball, pleased with the knowledge that though we hadn't really won, we had been best. We could generously concede the laurel. Maxine Cohen and Alan Korostoff were the class choices .llutlic tlxe strc As? W4 for Governor and Lieutenant Governor. Always eager for study, we jumped at the chance to miss a day of classes in order to take the National Merit examina- tion. Barbara Brandt, Robert Goldenberg, Phyllis Kravet, Jerry Levy, Howard Marmell and Joe Schulman, mad geniuses all, brought glory to Madison, but especially to our class. When the tumult and the shouting died, we looked around to see who would be our captains and kings: Marty Licht, Alan Miller, Sue Braverman, and Myron Kalin, were elected S.G.O. officers. Mike Zahl and Andrea Green- span were selected as Governor and Lieutenant Governor. The sophisticated Juniors influenced the choice for the year's varsity play. lt was G.B.S. this spring, Arms and the Man. Two of our talented Juniors, Paula Feldman and Maxine Cohen, graced the stage. Steven Drogin and Naomi Grossman were chosen leaders of Arista for the coming term. Ann Seigel became secretary. The term ended in a blaze of glory: boatrides, other peo- ple's proms, and Regents!!! The zmimf ear et me pry loose old walls. ef me lift and loosen old foundations. ,, Let me be the great nail holding a skyscraper through blue nights into white stars. Carl Sandburg The Senior War Shades of the prison house begin to close. Seniors! Seniors! Seniors, at last! Like conquering heroes we arrived in the Fall. Where were the slaves to walk in our triumphant march? Where were the unwilling iesters to grace our revelries? In short, where were the Freshmen? Betrayed, robbed of our natural prey, we discovered that the Freshmen had been moved down Quentin Road and were being kept in protective custody at P.S. 222, Madison's annex. lnstead of being able to start the training of our be- loved Freshmen, we had to take on the more wily guests from Sheepshead Bay. Hospitality being under the protection of the gods, we spoke only occasionally of Spring, when our guests were scheduled to depart. We knew we were best when we were Juniors, but by the time we were Seniors, everyone else knew it too. Ronnie Margolis was Sing Leader, and Sylvia Topf, Sing Secretary. But, we looked to Terry for signs of the future. Terry lost her voice a little earlier than usual, caught a cold on schedule, was properly tearful on the first night: All the omens were for it. We won! The madness came through at election time this year. Bob Rockfeld, Steve Zalkind, Alice Maron, and Ira Berlin were elected officers of our S.G.O. Michael Hills and Alan War- shauer are our eighth term Governor and Lieutenant Gov- ernor. Bob Lefkowitz and Carol Lamer were chosen Boy and Girl Leaders of Arista. To help them, Arista elected Leslie Norman and Larry Kupor secretary and treasurer. This was the year of exams. To our six Merit finalists we added three Westinghouse Honorable Mentions, and T02 State Scholarships. Above all, this was the year of college applications, the year for getting to know Miss Kyle too. Time and instructions gained new dimensions in Room l28. Eventually, the batches of notices which leave this room will coordinate the various school activities. The purpose of the S.G.O. is to enrich our life at Madison so that our education is not solely academic. Our officers and the members of their cabinet work together to plan dances, arrange concerts, give the much needed publicity to our teams, and organize Madison's publications. The adoption of our child, Kim, a Korean War Orphan, is a student project supported by the S.G.O. SING, which has been a part of Madison for the past ten years, is organized and financed by our Student Gov- ernment Organization. Under the guidance of the Sing Commissioners, participants in SING put on a wonderful show, and derive tremendous satisfaction from their experience. The opportunity of working together with other inter- ested and devoted students makes S.G.O. activity most rewarding. Through the S.G.O. we have learned the responsibility involved in being a part of a community in which there is work to be done and there are rules to be obeyed. Primarily, however, a Student Government Or- ganization is created to satisfy the social needs of the student body. ln this capacity, Madison's S.G.O. serves us admirably. Sing is the electricity bristling through the chorus as the band swings into the overture. Sing is sitting in the balcony, watching the other classes, and biting your finger- nails. Sing is tears. It's the meeting when the chorus can finally do it without the song sheets. It's Terry Wolfe, stamping her foot, knock- ing the light over, keeping us in perfect harmony for three years. It's witches, choking on the fumes of their own brew. It's laughter. This thing is Bob Front, Jeff Sussman, and Ronnie Margo- lis blowing whistles, yelling, turning variant hues from violet to chartreuse, and decidedly earning the title Sing Leader. This thing is Uncle Weatherbee nearly tripping over his scarf and bouncing onto a six-foot thermometer. This thing is eating pickles and potato chips for lunch at solo meetings. This thing is exhilaration. It's studying the judges' faces for some sign of recognition. This thing is the line that the scr' t committee can't rhyme, the steps that the chi grap4 r can't work out, the first slcei tha s ouil of THIS CRAZY THING CALLED SlNG. This crazy thing is Terry Schutte telling us, in all apparent seriousness, that the scenery burned. This crazy thing is makeup, running from tears and melted by lights. This crazy thing is green stockings, tin foil antennas, and slickers. This crazy thing is the pounding hearts during the Thunder Dance, the surprise in the audience at the appearance of red and white shakers, the cessation of breathing when the rocket ship nearly misfires. This crazy thing is relief. It's the first frenetic l'theme meeting, the last dress re- hearsal when nothing goes right, the expressions on the faces of Lois Beder and Bob Rockfeld as they announce that the Seniors won Madison's I lth Annual Sing. Each time a freshly printed issue of the paper is distributed to the official classes, the HIGHWAY editors and staff reioice at having won another victory against the omnipresent deadline and the innumerable troubles that con- front them. With the invaluable help and advice of Mrs. Elizabeth Whitlock, Faculty Adviser, all problems are solved, and all crises dealt with successfully. Putting out a paper is a continuous iob. The editors must first make their page plans, which designate the location and word count of each article. After the reporters have completed their assignments, the editors correct and write head- lines for each article. These are then sent to the printer to be set in type. Fasting is an experience which no HIGH- WAY editor will ever forget. As a result of many hours of hard, sticky, but enioyable work, the articles are pasted into an exact facsimile of the paper's final form. Even on the train to the printer in Greenwich Village, work does not cease, as there are always odd jobs to be finished. With utmost concentration, the proofs are read and reread, and all errors lit is hopedl are corrected. This issue is now over, and all that remains for the editors to do is plan their next page, assign the articles . . . However, the format of the Madisonian is determined by the creator whose work is displayed in its pages. lts theme, its style, its whole existence is the writer who creates for it. This satisfaction is derived from practicing and producing music with a group, and from performing before an audience. The musician delights in transforming the written note into something vibrant and sensual. ln the orchestra, bands, choruses, and instrumental music classes, students experience the fun of creating music to- gether, Many are inspired to make music a life's work, others discover a diversion which will fill many hours of leisure time. All learn to appreciate the beauty of sound and the art of its reproduction. Our active music organizations add variety to school life at Madison. A fall and a spring concert have become traditional functions at our school. The band adds spirit to our football games, the dance band zest to our social affairs. For all this we are grateful. And as we graduate from Madison High School, we express our sincere thanks to Mr. David Rattner, Chairman, and to the faculty of the Music Department. The team had a very successful season and finished second in their division. Our sophomore year saw the combination of Leon Gecker and his brother Harold, Ron Carner, Mel Marks, Barry Multer and Richie Goldberg waltz to the division title as they defeated the former leaders, Erasmus, twice. This year Leon Gecker was our All-City star and behind him we found Bronx High of Science a breeze in our first PSAL playoff game. In the quarter finals we faced Forest Hills, who almost ended our championship hopes, but with the score tied and ten seconds left Gary Baum of Forest Hills blew an easy layup and sent the game into overtime. Leon Gecker dominated the scoring in the overtime period and sent the Mosketeers into the semi-finals. We met Boys High in our next game lost by five points to the team which was to become City- Champions. In the consolation game we swamped Commerce and ended the season third in the City. In i957 the Mosketeers finished the season with a seventeen and one record and they also captured the Division l champion- ship. Ronnie Miller was All-City forward from Madison this year and with Bill Galantai, Tom Ryan, Bob Lynn and Harvey Herer we figuered to be high in the city competition. ln our first playoff game we played Seward Park High School at the Brooklyn Tech gymnasium. The maiority of fans thought this game was iust a step the Mosketeers would have to take to reach the Garden, but who thought that the team would trip and the men from Seward Park would defeat the Mosketeers and thus ended our hopes for a high place in the city playoffs. Our senior year brought together the best team than has played for Madison High in many years. Returning from last year's squad are Captain Billy Galantai, who has been chosen All-City this year, and Harvey Herer. With Joel Derketsch, Gary Notice and Chuck Baken the team duplicated last year's team as they copped the Division I title and finished with a seventeen and one record. Mike Hills 83 FOUTBALL . It is somewhat painful to reflect upon the achievements of Madi- son's football team during our stay. The team's record during this year span is far from distinguished, standing three wins, twenty-three losses and two ties, including a string of twenty-five winless con- tests, the longest in the school's history. This is a far cry from the squads of former years whose color and ability have won national acclaim. What then, has happened to our winning tradition? I am firmly convinced that we are not lacking in potential for our line is strong and our backs fast and deceptive. Our misfortunes date back to the fourth game of the 1955 season when the Highwaymen, riding high on the heels of a three game winning streak, were hit hard by the loss of Ronnie Warren, our star quarterback. It is interesting to note that we have not won a single game since then and although we cannot attribute all our defeats to one iniury, it would seem that this, indeed, started our downward slide. ' ln l956, with Coach Edwards at the helm of the Madison eleven, the team seemed on the upswing once again. Yet, even the out- standing performances of our two halfbacks, Co-Captain Artie Mass and Vince Spinelli, were unable to halt our mounting string of defeats and our final seasonal record was no wins, six defeats and one tie. In the i957 season, we compiled a similar record. The only bright spot in the entire season occurred in the I2-12 tie with Tilden High School. Lineman Johnny McCarthy and halfback Lennie Ritter were our outstanding players in this unfortunate year. The Highwaymen got a new coach in i958 in the person of Frank Murtha, already renowned for his wbrk at Alexander Hamilton High School. Despite the stellar play of Johnny McCarthy, whose perform- ance established him as one of the top prospects in the city, we finished with an even poorer record than the two previous seasons, losing all of our seven games. Especially bitter was our last game, a 62 to 7 romp by an unusually strong New Utrecht team. I am sincerely optimistic that this last humiliation will inspire Madi- son's promising Junior Varsity football squad to avenge our defeats and restore Madison to its former glory in the football world. Robert Peters W W TRACK Four long years ago, many of us, for the 'first time, walked about the halls of James Madison High School. There was then, as there is now, a fine track and cross country team representing the black and gold. Few, however, can remember Madison's victory in the Flatbush Champs Meet that year. Then we found ourselves as fall sophomores. It was at this time that a senior, Dick Creditor captained and in every way led the cross country team to a great season climaxed by a third place finish in the Brooklyn Champs Meet and a second place finish in the Flatbush Champs Meet. In passing I might mention that Dick is attending Maryland University on a track scholarship. The spring brought the track season, one which was to become a very important one for our school. For the first time lled by Captain Teddy Levinsonl Madison's track and field team attended the Pennsylvania Relays. ln the Flatbush Champs Meet Madison took first place mainly because of: Barry Essig's second place finish in the one hundred yard dash, Dick Creditor's second place in the mile and the excellent running of several sophomores who since that time have gone on to become the mainstays of this years squad. Two such were Danny Jelinsky and Bernie Sanders who took second and third places in the half-mile and mile events respectively. Soon it was time for the cross country season to begin once more. Only this time we greeted it as iuniors. Standing out were Danny Jelinsky and Bernie Sanders who in the Brooklyn Champs Meet and the Flatbush Champs Meet finished in the sixth and seventh positions and in the second and first positions respectively. In addition Jelinsky finished fourteenth in the City Champs Meet. In the track season the relay of Lund, Grossman, Rosenbush and Kasper distinguished itself by attending the national relays. Our school finished thirteenth in the city champs and second in the Brooklyn Champs Meets. ln the Flatbush Champs Meet we took the second position. Besides the excellent showings in the meets by our school there were several brilliant showings by individual members. Moe Halpern with the shotput was good enough to place third in the City Champs Meet. Jelinsky was the second finisher in the one thousand yard run at the Brooklyn Champs Meet. ln the Flatbush Champs Meet Bernard Sanders, Danny .lelinsky and Harvey Grossman were the winners. We are fast approaching the present. The senior year has rolled around and we discover that the veterans and backbone of the trackmen are our friends and class- mates. We discover that this year Madison has its best team ever. Though the track season at the time of this writing has not begun the cross country team was strong evidence of this point. ln the City Champs Meet Madison was eighth out of over sixty-five schools. In the Brooklyn Champs Meet Madison placed second. The Flat- bush Champs Meet was a romp for the Black and Gold. Sanders, Jelinsky, and Howort finished first, second, and fourth. During the season Jelinsky and Grossman both lived up to past expectations. The school record for the one thousand yard run was broken by the first while the second broke the sixty yard dash record. Steve Drogin BHSEBHLL Through the years the baseball team at Madison High School has gained the respect of both the students in Madison and the coaches and students in other schools as being one of the finest teams in the city. Under the direction of Artie Wunderlich, who has coached baseball at Madison for thirty-four years, the team has never placed below third in their division. This fine record which includes several city championships and numerous divi- sional championships can be accredited to the superb coaching of the team and its fine individual players. Several former Madison baseball stars have recently found their ways to the ranks of Major League baseball teams. Frank Torre now plays first base for the Milwaukee Braves and last fall Teddy Schreiber has signed a contract to play ball for the Boston Red Sox with a 558,000 bonus included. The T957 team had within its lineup Claude Bellando, who was one of the leading hitters in the PSAL competition and Al Schuman, an excellent fielding center-fielder. The following year's team which won its divisional title contained a number of ball players whose names may later be recognized by Madisonians in future Major League lineups. I am referring to Ron Jankowsky, who compiled an eleven and zero record as a pitcher and was named to the Journal-American All-Star Team as best right handed pitcher in the city. Ron Jankowsky's battery mate, catcher Mickey Maloney, also has excellent Maior League possibilities and is another name that may very easily appear on a future Maior League roster. Returning from the T958 divisional championship team is starting center-fielder, co-captain, Eddie Meyer, second base- man Matty Galante and first baseman Ira Sadowsky. With the help of the previously mentioned veterans who have each con- tributed a substantial share in the T958 campaign plus the boys from last year's squad and the new ballplayers, the team is certain to compile a commendable record for Coach Artie Wunderlich in 1959. Eddie Meyer Baseball Team Mr. Wunderlich. Advisor Vocabulary: English 8 G.D. lGraduation Dayl lngenuous to arrogant: Madison Seniors are known throughout the cosmos. College admissions offices every- where in the East have heard of the mature, capable people who graduate from James Madison High School. Although hampered by excessive self-confidence lotherwise known as conceitl skillful Seniors manage to make known their plethora of interests and abilities. Young and ingenuous, a sanguine Freshman enters the portals of Madison. The first year elapses, and with it goes the naivete of the newcomer. The Sophomore, pulverized by the massive curriculum he must master, plummets to the depths of desgondency. To the Junior, the full impact of that which is Madison delivers a decimating blow. Thus, when the soiourn at Madison nears its end, the ebullient graduate is reimbursed for all his sufferings. He immerses himself in an aura of arrogance, egotism and vanity. But, this pride must be expected and accepted. His elation is well-earned, and will last but a few short months. Then, thrust out into the cynical world, he must begin anew his hazardous climb to the pinnacle. He was loyal to his friends and to his school. A natural athlete, Larry played basketball and baseball with enthusiasm and with interest. His memory will always remain alive in our hearts.
