We who remain at Madison wish to con- gratulate you upon the Fine records you have made here and to wish you an success in the endeavors that lie before you. The same habits of industry and perse- verance which you have shown here wilt, if persisted in, carry you far on the road to worthwhile achievement in the future. 90 ewo J GAY, hitter words are spoken ahout Promise and Hope, They are derogatory words, scorntui and laugh- ing. Yet they cannot remove promise or deaden hope. Remembering this, we can regard radio progress with a hopeful eye. The advances in this field are taken almost com- ptacently, as if we feel that it is destiny that they must come. There danger liesg We should not he smugly satis- tied, for advance springs only from effort. We must have a conscious realization of the factors that constitute the advances which are made,-'offering a promise, granting a hope. Human endeavor then will not he directed towards ridding the world of other human beings who want to remain. We are lowly mortals, yet we lift our eyes to the stars .-without presumption. For it we can harness the air, re- ducing the omnipotent mystery of its parts and properties, we can surely explore other seemingly inexplicable prob- lems that have presented themselves, so that their solu- tions may guide and assist us. This hook is a remembrance of four years of our tives. It is more. It is the reminder th at it is now our turn for ven- turing the rise to the stars.
