Students Work In A Pleasant Atmosphere Upon graduation from any of the nine partici¬ pating schools, students who have attended the Vo-Tech Center will be ready to become working members of the community. Some graduates will be able to go to work immediately; others will find it more beneficial to become apprenticed in their trade. In this way, they can obtain more training while they work. After their apprentice¬ ship, they are assured of steady pay increases. 25

A First For Wicomico County Mr. James A. Sullivan, Director Fairmont State College, B.A. West Virginia University, M.A. By September of 1967, the Wicomico County Vocational and Technical Center will be completed. Federal participation helped the dream come true— a center to train those high school students who do not go on to college and to enable them to be¬ come economically self-sufficient. The Vo-Tech Center, housed in the former Salisbury High School, prepares students to assume jobs directly after graduation. Mr. William F. 26 . . . The Only One Of Its Kind On The Eastern Shore . . . Students desiring admission to the Vo-Tech Center must qualify. These qualifications in¬ clude: interest, aptitude, school record, job availability, and principal ' s recommendation Once a student is at the center, he is guaran¬ teed job placement under the guidance of the Maryland Employment Agency. The Vo-Tech Center is the only one of its kind on the eastern shore of Maryland. Ad¬ mitting only juniors and seniors, it has a total of three hundred students now, with an ex¬ pected enrollment next fall of five hundred.
