Our Skipper And First Mate Dear Seniors: Your graduation from high school will bring to an end one phase of your life and the beginning of a new one. It is my sincere hope that the training you have received at Bennett will lead you to success and happi¬ ness in your new life as adult citizens. As you depart to assume your place in our democratic society, I wish you well. I hope you will always remember that only through respect and understanding for the rights and opinions of others can world peace be at¬ tained. I hope you will always remember that with every right goes a responsibility and that you will meet these responsibilities with maturity of thought and judgement. Knowing you as I do, I am confident that the future of our nation is in good hands. Very truly yours. As each class progresses to the point at which it is ready to leave a school, those who stay behind wonder at the speed with which children become adults. In the case of the Class of 1967, you have matured with your school. You have had the distinction of developing many of the events and ideals which are fast becoming proud traditions at Bennett. The standards by which this school is known and admired will always bear your stamp. You have been placed in positions of responsibility and trust since the eighth grade, and you have fulfilled those responsibilities and guarded, that trust with determination, intelligence, and a spirit that refused to be dampened. Graduation day, 1967, is probably the last day that your class will assemble in one place. All of you will be taking on new responsibilities and new trusts, which you will meet head-on and leave this world a little better place for those who follow. ii
