She met her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Strauel, and their two daughters, Sandy and Diane, and in no time at all she was a typical American teenager. She was not the foreign exchange student ... she became Maria — another Loganer. Maria was impressed by the beautiful highways and the many automobiles. She enjoyed the freedom the American youngsters have. After only three short months, Maria ' s vocabulary of American words increased. Part of her vocabulary included typical teenage jargon — expressions like tore up . . . is boss . . . is no lie. Her favorite sport is foodball. She could always be found on the sideline rooting for the Colts. Maria is Logan ' s first exchange .stu¬ dent, who along with other Colts is help¬ ing to make Logan traditions. TropW soon to be ours. The team was picked by the sports writers of all the papers to finish in the cellar. The Colts came through to place sixth of an eight team league. The biggest surprise of all came when the Colts dumped their arch rivals, the Wash¬ ington Huskies 13-6. This inspirational, come-from-behind victory, gave the James Logan Colts proud possession of the Pop Goold trophy for the first year in its existence. This year’s captain and most valuable player was end Rich Winkel who was also an all league honorable mention along with four of his team mates.
