Driver Education Herman Holley B.S. A T State University Highway traffic is the lifeblood of the United States transportation system. When traffic fails to flow smoothly and efficiently, destruction, disfigurement, and death result which affect the lives of every American. The driver is the key to the solution of our traffic problems. Unfortunately, drivers are not as good as they should be. This is especially true of young drivers. Lack of training is the reason many motor vehicle operators do not drive efficiently and safely. Driver Education, then, is essential for making beginners good drivers and experienced drivers more competent. Efficient driving performances will bring about broad social advances and many personal benefits to each of us. It is obvious, therefore, that we all should become more actively concerned with traffic safety. 87
