Dudley High School ' s 1968-69 football team faced a hard schedule with many inex¬ perienced players at important positions . Edwin Maniac Corbett was the only re¬ turning letterman. The team played spirited ball but was hurt by more experienced clubs. They posted a 1 and 8 record. Such juniors and sophomores as James Johnson, Rody McCoy, William Phifer, Ray Pettiford, Edwin Corbett, and Joe and John Davis will form the nucleus for next year ' s team. Calvin Miller and John Duck” Guy were senior performers honored during the season. Guy won the Golden Helmet award for his outstanding play at of - fensive end, place-kicking, and defensive halfback. Calvin Miller was named to the All-City team at guard position. He was named defensive captain. Although the Panthers were unable to retain the championship of the Central 4-A, they seem to be loaded for next year ' s gridiron season. Scorecard Opponent Dudley Hillside 12 0 W.
