Vocational Education is an essential phase of general education which deals with industry and its re¬ lationship to our democratic way of life. It should provide an opportunity for all students through their knowledge, skills, attitudes and accomplishments to become more useful members of the home and com¬ munity, more intelligent consumers, and more valuable citizens ot our country. Its aims and objectives are: 1. To develop in each student a measure of skills and knowledge in the use of the common tools, ma¬ chines, materials, products, and processes of industry. 2. To develop skills in the production and use of sketches, schematics, graphs, diagrams, and draw¬ ings. 3. To develop discriminating consumers of goods and services. 4. To develop wise and worthy use of leisure time. 5. To develop an understanding of the world of work and abilities of students to make occupational choices in terms of their interest, aptitudes, and capacities. 46
