Athletic Department W,J. Furcron 9 Athletic Director This should be an occasion for me to say something to you about the Dudley athletic program. However, instead I would like to pay tribute to just one of our athletic groups; not to shun the others, but because of the greatness of this particular squad. This group is the 1967-68 football team; the team of teams. The team didn’t have the best won and lost record in the history of teams, but I do believe that if we were to compute the averages it would have the best record in dedication to assignment and responsibility, the best in loyalty, the best in attitude, the best in sportsmanship, the best in making contributions “be¬ yond the call of duty.” The team was acclaimed by many as the best drilled and the most disciplined high school team they had ever witnessed. On behalf of the football coaching staff 1 would like to take this opportunity to say to you, the members of this mythical team, that we will always remember you as the guiding light and standard bearer that other Dudley athletes should follow. To say that we enjoyed working with you will not suffice. The sorrow brought by your absence next year, the next, and the next, may be somewhat expiated in that we’ll know that wherever you are, you will be making a contribution to some worthy cause. We extend best wishes to all of you. 224 a
