The James A. Shanks Modern Dance Club participated in a series of school activities. Under the direction of Mrs. Constance Long, dancers performed in the Miss Shanks Pageant, the Christmas program, the homecoming pep rally, and at other Gadsden County schools. Members also performed for senior citi- zens of Gadsden County and patients at Florida State Hospital. Of the seventy- five total members only forty-five par- ticipated in each activity. Most of the dancing consisted of the female danc- ers who portrayed graceful movements to various melodies. Female dance leader was Angela Harris and mate dance leader was Ronald Long. Practice was held every club meeting and before each performance. Elected as officers were president. Shleen Humphrey: vice- president. Ronald Long: secretary. Adrian Bishop: assistant secretary. The Drill Team had twenty-one members and of those only nine were returning from the year before. The seniors on the Drill Team were Anthony Blair. David Coleman. Freddie Andrews, and Danny Meeks. The Drill Team participated in parades and drill meets in Perry. Albany. Geor- gia. and Fort Rucker. Alabama. They were also involved in an Annual Feder- al Inspection, the County Meet, and the homecoming parade. The sponsor of the Drill Team was Sgt. James Lowe. Anthony Blair asks Sgt. The purpose of the Good Etiquette Club was to improve the behavior and eti- quette among students and to instill the concepts of good behavior at certain places and events.
