Tryouts were held for two weeks and then twenty-two people were chosen for the team. Positions were chosen by the coach, with some members playing two spots. Each player was placed at the area on the field in which she demonstrated the most skill. The softball team, a self-supporting organization, held fund-raisers such as talent shows, dances, and candy sales, and accepted private donations to get money for new uniforms and equipment. With returning members Shenita Green. Priscilla Jackson. Cassandra Lee. Ten anna Wester, and Sharon Smith. Mrs. Long hoped to improve last year's record of seven wins and five losses.
