Madison Johnson and Marvin Me Millia n savor a box of Kelly Jr.'s country-fried chicken. Donnell Tucker always finds time to entertain Linda Adams and April Scott. After school. Pac-Man draws Vancheria Brun- son's undivided attention. Riding a motorcycle is very enjoyable to Allen Hill.

Denim Jeans Head Fashion List For Eighties Teens Stephanie Faison smiles as Roderick Palmer compliments her on her sense of style. Varied styles of school attire are worn by juniors Andrea Walker and David Jackson. Brown baggies are one of Robert Barkley's favorite pieces of clothing. Plaids, polka dots, stripes and jeans were the fashionable look at James A. Shanks High School during the 1983 '84 school year. Style and coordination played a major role that contributed to the colorful dress wear of the students. A popular style of clothing was jeans and polo shirts. The female's wardrobe consisted of mini skirts, flooding pants, knickers, and sweat shirts of various colors. Bright clothing was favored because of its likeliness to attract attention. Ties aided the businesslike attire for the majority of young men. Such brands as Jordache. Calvin Klein. Chic and Lee were favorites among the entire student body. Although times and styles changed. Shanks' campus was always up-to-date in the fashion world. 13

After a hard day of washing cars. Traci Dasher retires for the evening. Even motherly responsibilities will not hinder Tonya Lent on from supporting her school's foot- ball team. For Tony Jackson, fun begins when he gets the family car. Fun, Money Found In After- School Jobs, Activities Students at Shanks found themselves getting more involved in entertaining and profitable after-school activities. Even though they had many other responsibil- ities. students enjoyed out-of-school activities at places such as the Kelly's Jr. video arcade. Patches Skating Rink and friends’ homes. Games and dances also provided entertaining evenings. Weekend trips to Tallahassee for shopping, dining at favorite restaurants and attending movies were relief from long days at school. Many students spent time working in order to pay for their everyday niceties and necessities including Levi's, hamburgers and $1.14 per gallon gasoline. Places of employment included Winn-Dixie. IGA. McDonald's. Burger King and other bu- sinesses. Minimum wages of $3.35 per hour provided spending money to finance after-school entertainment and to make high-school life entertaining. 15
