Staff Strives For Neatness, Health Mrs. Myrtle Schofield was in charge of planning nearly 300 breakfasts and 700 lunches daily. Much thought was put into producing balanced, nutritious lunches. Lunches cost sixty- five cents for full price and thirty-five cents for reduced price. Some of the duties of the custodial staff were sweeping halls, cleaning restrooms, vacuuming rooms and taking out trash. Members of the staff were Mrs. Josephine Fleming. Mrs. Dur- vie Brown. Mrs. Rose Cannon. Mr. Arduster House and Mr. Willie Northern. The staff put in extra hours to help improve the appearance of the campus for the visiting SACS Commit- tee. Mr. Willie Northern prunes the palm trees to keep them looking nice. Lunchroom staff members are Lottie Rouie. Myrtle Schofield. Vonsell Mat thews. Evelyn Marshall. Susie Scott. Mavis Parramore. Helen Schofield and Katie Allen. Debra Miller and Valencia Richardson eat a nutritious lunch. SI

P.E. Provides For Varied Activities Volleyball, football, tumbling, square dancing, basketball and softball were a few of the sports activities taught. Coaches Joseph Barnes. Ricky Bell. Constance Long and John Everett taught rules as well as sportsmanship. P.E.. an elective for juniors and seniors, was a required course for sophomores. Gym suits were available for purchase by all students in the co educational classes. Students were graded on their class participation as well as on written examinations. Daily routine included dressing out and doing warm-up exercises before starting the day's activities. Coach Bell goes over the schedule while Ray Alexander. Leasdell Russ and Darion Robinson look on. Mrs. Long and Coach Everett plan group activities. Calvin Long shows his tumbling ability in a handstand. Coach Barnes makes out lesson plans. 50

Pupils Achieve In Resource Program Amid staff changes, the Exceptional Education Department still managed an increase of 51 students. Mrs. J.B. Donald moved to a larger room in order to accommodate the increase of students. Mrs. Janora Crow was replaced this year by Mrs. Linda Thomas. Mrs. Thomas, along with Mrs. Donald, worked hand-in-hand with a separate branch of the Exceptional Edu- cation Department at Carter-Parramore Junior High. The stu- dents included in this program were the gifted, emotionally handicapped and educable mentally handicapped. Mrs. Thomas scans her grade book lo check on grades. Mrs. Janora Crow calls a spelling lest to her students. Members of the Exceptional Education Department are Front Row Wilbert Caldwell. Elizabeth Farmer. William Wiencke and Debra Herron.
