Text from Pages 1 - 88 of the 1989 volume:

We, the senior class of 1989, would like to dedicate our yearbook to Mr. C. Howard Smith. Seventeen out his thirty five years in the Boston Public Schools were served here at Jamaica Plain. Aside from being the Assistant Head Master, Mr. Smith was once Head of the English Department, Chairman of the Scholarship Committee, a baseball coach, Commissioner of the Umpires of Boston, and a football official. We want to say thanks, Mr. Smith, for your many years of dedication to Jamaica Plain High School. te, ,a gf s TO THE CLASS OF 1989: Congratulations on reaching the end of the beginning. As gradu- ates from Jamaica Plain High School, you must go about the business of life which is making choices. And it is a fact t hat in the America of 1989 there are some wonderful careers open to you. Each choice demands different personal qualities to be success- ful. But all careers demand effort and respect for the rights of others. These things you have learned at Jamaica Plain High School. As a young graduate without too many responsibilities now is the time to dream, the time to dare. If you work hard enough, you will be successful. The teachers you have had, the students you have known, the things you have learned in your time at Jamaica Plain High School are all part of your experience now. We know that you can become a useful and productive citizen. We really are quite proud of you! We hope that health and happiness will be yours for years to come. C.
