of-.ow ft-offwz ff--wwf. 'Sf l' V r Foreword . . . The Athenian Oath, taken by all youths on arriving at their twenty-first birthday, bound the young Greek to maintain the reputation of his city by no disgraceful or cowardly act, to obey and enforce the city's laws, and to leave his city greater, better, and more beautiful than it was transmitted to him. ll Because this two thousand year old oath hangs, emblazoned, in our school ofice, it is appropriate to use it as the theme of our Yearbook. We, pupils of the Class of 1942, entering Jamaica Plain High School, literally took this oath. We have tried our best to uphold the governing principles of our schoolg and now we leave to the underclassman the duty of continuing our task. In these days of strife we should bear allegiance to our country and be bound by an unwritten law similar to that of the Athenians. It should be our individual endeavor to better our city and country, bring no disgrace upon it, obey and uphold its laws. R. R. Contents . . . Jmlfy Clit!! G-ftkletiet cgealnzes 62:10:66
