erhaps the first thoughts that the mind coniures up at the mention of exploration are of the Spanish conquistadores and Henry Hudson. Truly, exploration has figured decisively in our nation's history. Blazing trails through uncharted wilderness has been a vivid part of our American heritage. Most recently, the orbits of satellites have replaced the tracks of Conestoga wagons in the evolution of the ideal of exploration. We are excited by the prospect that men will soon rocket into space.
