TO THE CLASS OF 1957: You are about to complete a cycle of your life. Your relatively carefree, secure and circumscribed days of childhood are over. Yes, your days were carefree despite the grind of homework chores, they were secure despite examinations, and they were sheltered by a circle of loving parents and con- scientious teachers. Now that you are about to move into a wider circle, and become more independent, you will soon learn that greater independence in- volves greater responsibility. With the satisfac- tion of making your own decisions will come the pos- sible peril of paying for your own mistakes. During the years you've been at Jamaica you have grown to maturityg have you also grown wise? You have learned many things about many subjects, have you learned how to relate your knowledge to the problems of living? To you much.has beer1given by your parents, your teachers, your community, have you acquired the temperament, the judgment, the skills which you will have to employ to make your contribu- tion to society? To the degree that you can give these questions an affirmative answer, you are ready for the next cycle in your development. We who have guided your high school years wish you well as you move from the microcosm of the school into the wider, more challerging circle of adult life. l PRINCIPAL Mr Schuker and Friend Birthday Celebration G O Dance
