TO THE GRADUATES OF JUNE 1945 Dear Girls and Boys: i One of the easiest things to give is advice. ln my many years as principal, I have preached a good deal and given a great deal ol advice-some good and doubtless some bad, but all with good intentions. Now that you are about to leave, I hope you will bear with me and let me preach lor the last time. lt is a sermon on dependability. Many of you will go into the business world, some to college, and a good many boys into the armed forces. Wlherever you find yourself, you will be under some older person who will rate you on your dependability. An employer con- siders the reliability of his employeesg a banker makes a loan largely on the reputation for dependability of the person seeking the loang an officer picks the man for a special job who can be relied on to do the job well. The history of human achievement is in large part a record of the acts of men who could be depended upon. Fortunately, dependability is a personality trait which can be acquired and no one is too young to develop it. It is a trait which you can't buy, borrow or steal, yet it is something which you can lose easily. I hope in the years to come it may be said of everyone ol you, His word is as good as his bond.
