X ff JERRY SWAIN SAMMIE BECKHAM VICKI BAUM PATRICIA JACKSON Valedictorian Salutatorian MONTE ANDERSON CHRIS BLOCKER DARWYN BISHOP CLAYDENE MUSIC SUE REDDEN IAL CHAPTER NO. 4, 234 OF THE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY. HISTORY OF THE SENIOR CLASS OF 1957. In 1954 our class had its beginning with Clarrene Cooper, Darlene Hill, Sammie Beckham, Monte Ander- son, Vicki Baum, Ann Diviney, Kathrynne Whitworth, and Lilly Faye Woods. Our teacher for this great event was Mrs. Hair. From the Lone Star State came Jerry Webster to join us in our second year. Mrs. Recer, Mrs. Sullivan, and Mrs. Carl had the privilege of teaching us. In the third grade, Gwen Guilliams, Linda Stone, Jerry Swaim, and Alton Dunn joined the clan. Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Lawrence were our tutors. Jimmy Pinson, Pat Jackson, Gayle Morris, and Darwyn Bishop had the honor of becoming members of our class in the fourth grade. Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Johnson were our dictators. We enlisted Margaret Turner and the 'Chatanooga Shoe Shine Boy, commonly known as Chris Blocker, in the fifth grade. Mrs. Raymond and Mrs. Denny were our commanding officers. The year we graduated from grade school into junior high, George Silva and James Hyatt were added to our class. This was our sixth grade year. Mrs. Adkins and Mrs. Walden escorted us through this year. Bobby French, due to unfortunate difficulties with teachers, joined us in the seventh grade. Claydean Music, Sue Redden, and Ginger Taylor also joined us. Our sponsors were Mr. Hendrickson and Mr. McEwen. Now our eighth grade year rolls around. Our number remained the same. Mr. Hendrickson and Mr. Hogan kept us on the straight and narrow path this year. The year of our initiation into High School, two loud, stinking fish joined us - Lou Ellen Coates and Robert Woods. Hendrickson and Requa went through the trials and tribulations of new-comers to high school with us. No one had the privilege of joining the class in our sophomore year. Mr. and Mrs. Shiplet pushed us through In our junior year, there were no new additions to the class. Mr. and Mrs. Shiplet were our captains. This year will be well remembered by our play, BOOKS AND CROOKS, and our prom, 'Moonlight and Roses. Our senior year is here. The one addition this year was Stanley Culwell, from our neighboring town, Kermit James Bryant and Claude Reed, who are i.n the service, will also receive diplomas this year. The great event of this year besides graduation was SHOTGUN WEDDING. Mr. Smith and Mrs. Roberts were fortunate in being our sponsors this year. We leave May 25, 1957 for Colorado Springs, on our senior trip. To the oncoming senior classes, we will as much enjoyment in school as we have had.
