QE. J oben fion Us Mrs. Velma Longhorn, Girls' P. E. Teacher, has been at Jacobs Junior High for over eleven years. She taught at the old Eureka Junior High for two years, and when the teaching staff was divided, she came with the original group to Jacobs Junior High. She is one of only three people who are left from the original staff. Mrs. Longhorn has always been well-like by all the students who have been placed in her classes. She works very hard, is dedicated, and the students know this. Her inter-school teams have won more than their share of games from the other schools. She has been responsible for helping develop many courses of study concerning P. E. during the last eleven years. When you say Jacobs Junior High, you almost automatically mean Mrs. Velma Longhorn. She was born in Oregon and attended Oregon State College. Her family was a pioneer of that state and came in the covered wagons. She has one son, Martin, who attended Jacobs and is HOW a junior at Eureka High. He was on the Honor Roll and an all- around athlete. Not only has Mrs. Longhorn been popular with the students, but she is extremely well- liked by her fellow teachers and has been department chairman for five years. We dedicate this yearbook to Mrs. Velma Longhorn because she has truly helped to m'ake this a VERY GOOD YEAR.
