Benny Character President SNEA The purpose of the Student National Education Association is to improve the quality of professional training by promoting standards of excellence in the field of education, and to acquaint college students preparing to teach with the history, ethics, and policies of the teaching profession by providing opportunities for actual participation at local, state, and national levels of the professional organizations. It is also the purpose of the ASEA to promote wholesome social and professional interests and attitudes among the members by working together on problems of the profession and society, and to interest capable young men and women in pursuing education as a lifelong career, especially, by promoting and assisting high school ETA chapters. The 1966-67 academic year for the ASEA has been a success story from the word “registration.” With a membership of 250, the organization broke all existing records, and also was the largest ASEA chapter in the state of Alabama.
