The original organization of thirty students presented its first concert as a Christmas concert. In a state-wide competition the choir was awarded the Bromberg Bowl in May, 1961. Among the judges were Kurt Adler, Chorus Master of the Me tro pol i ta n Ope ra, and Arthur Winograd, director of the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. As port of the Bromberg Award, the choir was presented in a Christmas Program on WAPI-TV during the Christmas season in 1961. The choir also mode records of their Christmas music. The organization of the A Cappella Choir is based on the importance of the individual. This concept is realized through the ensemble os an entity and the choir as a combination of the ensembles. The present roster of sixty-five voices is divided into seven ensembles led by Billy Barker, Tom Camp, Ronald Hyche, lavon Lang, Gene Love, Melvin Morgan, and Terry Segers. The A Cappella Choir is under the very excellent leadership of Malcolm J. Griffin, director. [ Ml ] ENSEMBLE LEADERS.
