Professor of Foreign Languages Di Jones initiated and has maintained the International Program and its • ampus center, the International House, and this, wc bebeve, is the most signifrr mt advance made at Jacksonville during the past half-century The International Program lifted Jacksonville from the status of a school among Americans to that of a school among nations, it actively illustrates the world wide effort to promote understanding among nations, and peace among men; under rfs present conscientious leadership .it is destined itself to have an influential part in the exchange of good will Because of his tireless love and devotion to Jacksonville, the International Program, and people everywhere, wc respectfully and affectionately dedicate the 50 MIMOSA to Dr James H Jones 4

VI 1 II n Not Ionf’ before the end nf summer school I,1st August, the school and the community were shocked and saddened by the news of the death of Mrs Leone Cole, wife of our President Her absence from our midst has left a gap impossible among her acquaintances, to be filled As students we knew her as a tender, kind, and gracious being, ever ready to counsel and to help easy of access and quick in sympathy We knew her as a devoted wde and understanding mother Wc recognized tn her a person of equable deposition, of sound judgment and of wide vision, a being serene in the knowledge of a life well lived We only gradually became conscious of the courage that her outward serenity betokened The President s H me. which she so largely planned, remains with us as an enduring monument to her impeccable taste m life The new Leone Cole Aud'torium. m its beauty and fitness, is but one expression by the community and state of the respect and affection wh ch wc also wsh to express in thir edition of THC MIMOSA
