They spend many evenings at the high school doing last minute jobs so that each one of us will receive his copy of the Herald. Cuztt All Furnishing a bieweekly paper for the students and faculty of I. H. S. has kept the Herald Staff busily occupied. This year the staff was again under the very capable leadership of Mrs. Baptist, Kenny and Bose- mary have done an excellent job as co- editors. Since senior editor Dovie Sooy has been so efficient in working along with the editors, she was named assistant editor, Dovie also has done much of the rewriting for the paper. Gur school news contains something of interest for all the students in l. H. S. One of the new highlights which appeared in the Herald this year was llAround and About which consists of informal chit-chat. To keep us informed on alumni the staff added llHave You Heard, and for the first time a girls' sports column appeared in our paper. Among their many activities some mem- bers of the staff traveled to Monmouth last fall to attend a press conference. Again our paper has entered the Critical Service of National Scholastic Press Associ- ation. We are very proud to know that last year they received a first class rating. i'How- ever, says the staff, this year is anybody's guess. Could this be modesty? Anyway we say good luck to you, Herald Staff. No matter Which, you were justifiably proud of one of the best bands that I. H. S. has ever had. You first saw the 'ired and White enter- taining at intermission on the football field. During the season they worked out many clever formations such as the one in which they formed a clock with a swinging pendu- lum, while playing NAS Time Goes By. Their next big event was the Christmas Band Concert, December ll. Also, at the basket- ball games you probably saw those red caps. They belonged to the members of the Npep band, which played during the quarters and at the half. The band members and vocal and piano soloists very well represented our school at the district music contest, receiving fifteen first division ratings which enabled them to compete in the state contest. Mr, Welch, their very capable director, certainly did a fine job. Notorious, lim Perbix Dr. Horizontal Here Comes The Showboatn Miss Goddin The critics have acclaimed this musical re- view as a top hit. To the tune of Here Comes The Showboatf' Skipper lim Perbix, who was master of ceremonies, launched the ship which was loaded with a cargo of jokes, dancing, and songs for a fun-filled trip. The specialties and our end men Notorious, Ronnie Ganog Bo Iangles, Iohn Walker, lelly Bean, Roy Cooper, Sparerilos, Erie Lairy Rainbo, Ronny Eberhardtp and Dr. Horizontal, Bruce Samoore, entertained the passengers for two carefree hours of enjoyment. The faculty committee was again under the capable direction of Miss Goddin. She was as- sisted by Mrs. Baptist and Mr. Adams, who directf ed the chorus, Miss Groves, Miss Self, Mrs. Long- enbaugh, and Mr. Patterson who worked with specialties and end men. The committee should certainly receive a loud round of applause for their rollicking production. 44 E42 ' , fs 7 v1 17 V' 'W we vw . if A f' j Q., at ,Q A ' Q -Af,.:V ' T ., H lx fi: GlCX,f.ff-14-fi-1, 'Q , 'Q -M ' 'P Ffa' ?x5 , r r D 'V f W: A C .
