students all love her so They also used excellent ludgment in tne selection of their class ofiicers when they chose Dorothy Graham for president Donald Cok er for vice president James Merrill for treasurer Lucy Jones for secretary and Edward Baxter for student council They have a lot of good sense my Fresh men he told David Prince earnestly They are able to find their way to the proper c'ass rooms unusuillv well ind wery few have mistaken the office for the study hall High School continued to witch the Freshmen carefully and one diy in October he told Divid Prince excitedly thit they were going to have a Hillowe en party soon and he grew more excited as he went on to tell about the plans and preparations that were being mad for it Duid Prince was very much mter ested and when he found out thit the party was to be given in his own gym nasium his interest in the affair became mtense On October 28th the gala affair was held Besides various other amusements a prize was awarded to Catherme Goebel for the best costume and a delightful time was enjoyed by all even though some of High School s naughty upperclassmen tried to aid in furnish ing the entertainment For several weeks High School was busy trying to get everyone and every thmg properly adjusted There were tryouts for the various clubs and other or ganizations and it was with a great deal of pride that he reported the results to his brother A large number of my Freshmen were taken into the Chorus he told David Prince and almost half of the members taken into the Dramatic Club were from this class Also three of my httle girls were successful in the try out for the Treble Clef I knew it would be that way Divid Prince said They are wonderful youngsters those Freshmen A few weeks later High School was agam very busy gettmg ready for the annual Carnival which was to be given November 26th Durmg these days he found very little time to talk to David Prince but after lf was over he told him all about it My Freshmen outdid themselves he exclaimed proudly Their stunt you know was The Evolution of the Dance The dances were all good but McClure Capps Egyptian dance was worth the price of admission in itself Another day the two brothers were talking about the talents of their stud ents I have a number of talented Freshmen this year High School said proudly Helen Magill won two first prizes at the State Fair for two of her paintings: Catherme Goebel was successful in the tryout for the Girls uartet, Dorothy Graham was unusually good as Miss Carruther's in the operetta given by the Treble Clef: Lucy Jones is fine as a Freshman reporter for the Exhaust: and when it comes arguing, Troy Chapin is certainly a champion and he isn't taking special work along that line either. Then there are many others who show marked ability in various ways. Time passed quickly and High School's second semester soon came roll- ing around, and with it came more than fifty new students from David Prince. In February the Freshmen chose for their class colors lavender and white, and for their flower the lilac. All the time High School was becoming more and more interested in his Freshmen. High School and David Prince talked a great deal about the Freshmen. You were right, David Prince, said High School one day, when you said that you knew I would love them.
