The National Honor Society, in its second year at Jackson Township High School, has tried to continue its influence by establishing the follow- ing high professional aims and goals for the school: an enthusiasm for good scholarship, an encouragement of a desire for students to render service to the school and in the community, a stimulus to the student to observe and practice those acts of others that develop strength of character, and an encouragement to the student to continue his learning and his education. To be eligible for membership, a senior must have no more than 5 C's with at least 5 A's in solid subjectsg a junior must have no more than 4 C's and at least 4 A'sg and, a sophomore must have no more than 2 C's and at least 2 A's. After a student's scholarship record has been checked, he is then judged on character, leadership, and service. ln an impressive ceremony, the BLACKBOARD Staff presented an Honor Plaque to the Honor Society. Each year, the senior whose four- year academic average has been the highest will have his or her name en- graved upon it. Several assembly programs were presented by members ol' the Honor Society and the Salvation Army Drive was directed by this group. The induction ceremony for new members was held in the Methodist Annex in April. The parents of the members and the alumni members were special guests. Miss Margaret Martin 31
