'.X E :E:: -nu - . ,, lf' ll ,x I THE BLACKBOARD NATIONAL HON OR SOCIETY R ll l R I ll l I J I t5 O If I l Al t W S ll The National Honor Society is in its first year at Jackson This IS an honorary soc1ety which has as its objectives creatlng an enthusiasm for scholarship stimulating a deslre to render service promoting worthy lead ership and encouraglng the development of character in pupils in our high school To be eligible for the Honor bociety a tudent must first have a B aver age After his scholarship IS checked he IS selected on the basis of scholar ship service leadershlp and character Members are chosen from the Junlor and Senior Classes All candidates must have been enrolled in Jack son for at least one semester prior to h1S election The Sophomore members are probationary membels and may vote but not hold an oflice 1n the chap ter If any act1ve member falls below the requirement standards he shall be dropped from the chapter by a maJor1ty vote of the faculty upon the recommendation of the council The executlve councll consists of Miss Martin Mrs Sommervllle Mr Broshar Mr Everhart and Mr Baylor The chapter functions under this councll The chapter wrote and accepted a constltutlon which was accepted by the national organization After this was accepted the chapter ordered pins for each member The group decided to make an amendment to the constl tutlon to the effect that when a member IS elected to the chapter he must agree to buy the p1n of the organization before he may become a member When the Senior class members graduate the chapter w1ll furnish a dlploma seal for their diplomas This w1ll show that they have been an accepted member of the Honor Soclety for at least one year The Society was 1n1t1ated April 17 at the Methodist Annex by the mem bers of the Lebanon Soclety 1 9 5 3 v llow l: Connie Comms, TI'l'Z1Sl1l'6'l'I Sonny ez-sl, Vice- President: Mr. Baylor, Dorothy Jones, Sw-rotary: Imsliu Elmugrll.
