Vgf- A Brief History of it : . . 1 1 the Rock Back when Mr. Morra was principal of the high school, a student's father had a granite site and donated it to the school. The rock was delivered black and shiny. but it didn't take long before the rock painting tradition started. Many changes occurred in the high school over the summers however, none as striking as the removal of tradition. What used to be the Senior Class Rock out in the front of the Memorial building was just another patch of grass. Needless to say, the seniors were in an uproar, but the yearbook staff decided to investigate the situation further and find out what the teachers knew. Hey guys . . . WHERE'S THE ROCK? Mrs. Ten Eyck. I didn't know that the rock was gone. Mr. Walsh: What happened to the rock? Mr. Werkman: Where is it? Russ fthe janitorj: I don't know. Mrs. Sahner. One midnight the entire administra- tion apparently buried it and it was not resurrected. One year some seniors tried to bury it and got caught with shovels in their car! 57
