Donald F. Conner 1940-1987 Teacher Coach Athletic Director Friend On October I8, l987, the Community of Jackson lost one of its leading citizens when Don Connor passed away. Since arriving at the Switlik School in l96I, Mr. Connor served our schools as an elementary teacher, English teacher, and driver education teacher. However, it was his role as our Athletic Director that led him to be an ever-present personality at our school's athletic events. His attendance at away games as well as the home contests allowed him to gain the love and respect of the athletes, coaches, teachers, administrators, parents, media and fans throughout the Shore Conference. His fame reached statewide and even national proportions during his latter years. In spite of his widespread influence, it was here at Jackson Memorial High School where he had his greatest impact. For many coaches and athletes an event didn't seem official without his presence. He found great joy in being a part of our teams and was like a proud parent when they per- formed well. He was the kind of legend whose enormity will continue to grow with the passing of time. In addition to his position with the school, Mr. Connor served as the Township's Recreation Director for many years. Although his absence saddens us, memories of him will provide us with joy forever. We were truly fortunate to have him.
