As I was srttrng there rockrng as I always drd on the nrghts of the full moon my partner rn death Dorothy Hol man happened to remark that there was a new grave rn our cemetery Qurte a wealthy lookrng grave too she sard Dorothy had gone through lrfe qurte a happrly mamed lady but when her husband presrdent of the new multr mrllron dollar Bersted Co dred she was on the look-out for another husband Dorothy rnvestrgated every new grave Just to be sure Thrs trme rt was a wealthy man fmd as thrs was the now famed Iackson Lrberty Graveyard we expected rt to be a graduate of our Alma Mater Sure enough rt was a short slender man wrth a tarlor made surt and the newest style derby He looked famrlrar and when he came forward and started talkmg we recognrzed hrm as our boy orator Dallas Loomrs Patrrck Henry the teachers called hrm Dallas told us land we put rt rn the ledger for Samt Peterl that he was a successful polrtrcran and that hrs party had won almost every electron rn the state and that he Dallas Loomrs Esqurre was the top man rn hrs party We were very happy for Dallas and glad that he Jorned us Dallass ptrvate secretary he told us was a beautiful redhead Her name? Why Ianrce Werssrnger of course' Ian had told me at one trme that she wanted to be a secretary She was a part trme model too I heard We were glad that she d achreved what she desrred most After a few short years our graveyard had blossomed two more graves those of Yvonne Ecker and Mary Ann Saum And so we dragged out two more rockrng charrs from the attrc and got them ready Seerng as how we could only meet under a full moon we had a lot of talkrng to do Yvonne as we leamed had gone on to college and had achreved her goal that of berng a hrgh school math teacher But that wasnt all land we had to pry thrs out of herl she was also the State Drrector of Educatron and had been resrdrng and teachrng m Columbus She was also a frne wrfe and mother to her famrly Nothrng more de servmg could have happened to a frner grrl Whrle we were talkmg wrth Yvonne a tall stately blonde had come rn and sat down We recognrzed Mary Ann Saum rrght away fShe always drd have curly harr the lucky strffl She wore a unrform and I knew what rt was because l had one too It was the unrform of a WAP Mary Ann and I had gone through basrc trammg together but then we parted I was almost afrard to talk to her now wrth all that gold brard and those rrbbons on her lseerng as how I went rn as a Prrvate and came out the same wayl She spoke rrght up though and sard shed been all over the world durmg her career Shed been happy and I guess thats what counts most rn lrfe A I had my ledger rn front of me I wrote down two more names for Pete of lrves well spent and Jobs well done One day about srx years later we saw the grave drggers start three more graves and so we got out three more rockers from our attrc and polrshed them for our new arrrvals We were patrently wartrng to see who rt was so we sent Dorothy out to look She came back very excrtedly and sard all three were men We could hardly hold her down untrl they got to where we were but some- how we managed They tumed out to be three funny fellows as we remembered Francrs Hammer Alfred Brrck ner and Bob Murphy It seemed that Franny and Alfred were rn cahoots rn a huge state-wrde co-operatrve farmers prolect for whrch all the farmers rn the State were grateful for the progress and prosperrty that they were enloyrng Although they were the leaders of the co-operatrve the brarns behrnd the leaders was a tall handsome man wrth an amazrng talent for bookkeeprng Hrs name was Bob Murphy and rf we remember rrght another member of hrs famrly taught that subrect I guess that must be the reason for hrs huge success All three of these fellows became qurte wealthy and had very beautrful wrves We were pleased to have such drstrngurshed members of socrety rorn our lowly graveyard Brt by brt or should I say body by body our grave- yard was begrnnrng to grow In fact rt was so large now that we had to push a few of the tombstones together to make more room Srnce mme was the frrst one there along wrth Dort s ours stayed where they were When we got through movrng everybody elses around though we had Murphs tombstone on top of Frannys grave and Dallass ended up over a plot of ground where nobody was even burred lI'Ie drdnt mmd though because he sard he felt more ahve than dead anywayl Seven more years went by and our rockrng charrs were gettrng squeaky and our vorces were rust about the same when a brg event occurred rn our graveyard HOUSE- WIVESI Yes housewrvesl We grrls rubbed our hands rn glee at that rdea You see everyone knows how a house- wrfe loves to gossrp over the back fence and we were expectrng some delrcrous news from these three grrls The grrls? Peg Butler Leann Byers and Marlyn Beck Peg and Marlyn both had four chrldren Two boys and two grrls Peg had marrred a televrsron executrve and had lrved rn the mansron on the hrll Partres champagne and garety galore!
