DEBATE Standing: Miss Frum and Edna Perkins. Seated: Mary Lou Fish, Howard Weaver, Iune Crockett, Helen Meszaros, Madolyn Nichols, Bar- bara Carter. The number participating in debate dropped the opposing side were Iune Crockett and considerably this year. The final number on the Howard Weaver. The question for debate was, team was four. Those on the affirmative side Resolved, That a Federal World Government were: Madolyn Nichols and Barbara Carter. On should be established. UPEHETTA . . . The Gypsy Rover The Gypsy Rover was a comedy in three acts and was built around Rob, later known as Sir Gilbert Howe, of English nobility. Rob is stolen, when an infant, by his nurse, Meg, who later becomes the wife of Marto, a gypsy. Rob grows to manhood amongst the gypsies be- lieving Meg and Marto to be his parents. It happens one day, while riding with her fiancee, Lord Craven, Lady Constance Marten- dale becomes lost in the woods. They wander to the QYDSY Camp where Constance and Rob meet and fall in love at first sight. Craven ob- jects to Rob's attitude, but in a very funny com- edy scene with Marto and Sinfo, he is made to tell Sir Geo., who later comes in search of Con- stance, that Rob is a charming fellow. In act two Rob goes to the home of Constance and sere- nacles her. They plan to elope but are overheard by Craven who informs Sir Geo., and plans are made to capture Rob. This is successfully ac- complished and Rob is thrown into prison, but later escapes. Two years later Rob's identity has been proven by Meg and he becomes a successful composer, a friend of the Prince, and a social lion. Constance has remained true to her love for Rob and on his return to England, he woos and wins her for his wife. As Rob says, The good fairies have led me to the beautiful coun- try after all, and our story, Constance, can end in the proper way. They lived happily ever after. There is a great hustle and bustle inside the ranch house in preparation for the expected visit ot Mrs. lone Fletcher, a widow, who was the lite-long friend ot lude's late wife. Mrs. Fletcher is coming all the way from New England to visit with lude and Betty Ann and then she hopes to go to New Mexico where her nephew, Dwight Fletcher, a young artist, is residing. ln addition to Mrs. Fletcher they are also expecting a new hired hand at the Melton ranch. While lude goes -i the ranch, Dwight Fletcher arrives, having de- cided to pay his aunt a surprise visit. Betty Ann mistakes Dwight tor the new hired hand and insists that he go out to milk the cows! Dwight falls in love with Betty Ann, but her father has already promised that his daughter will marry Lige Beatson, son oi Widder Beatson. This sit- uation is taken care ot very nicely by Cactus Kate who proves that anything can happen Down ln The l-leart Ot Texas. L Juititiii Pin Standing: Miss Frum, Robert Hex Seated: Mary Louise Frankliart, Mary lane Wolgamuth, Edna Perkins, Madolyn Nichols, Donald Massie, Cleora Coleman. l10ii't llarken My llnnr Rosemary wanted a lover like the one in Hearts Atlame' and she had no time tor Torn. Her ad- miring maid, Poppy, felt the same way and poor Alec, the gardener, was in despair over Poppy's sudden coldness. Then the author ot the roman- tic book appeared. Shes a maiden lady with a kind heart and she set about repairing the dam- age her book had done. Under her direction, Tom and Alec soon spouted romantic speeches and make a hit with the girls. Two tluttery spin- sters from the neighborhood keep a thrilled eye on the romantic goings-on, and even Rosemary's bachelor uncle begins to notice the good quali- ties ot the author he is entertaining,
